ASIC 4 Salary - $94,198 ~ $112,011 (depending on experience) plus up to 15.4% superannuation

The Team

ASIC's Enforcement and Compliance Group (ECG) is responsible for the conduct of ASIC's initial inquiries, compliance and enforcement work across all sectors excluding markets. The ECG comprises Investigation, Special Operations, Inquiries and Compliance, and Enforcement Services.

One of the Investigation teams include the Companies and Small Business Portfolio (Portfolio) where the Assetless Administration Fund (AA Fund) team resides. The Portfolio oversees enforcement and compliance activities focused on the companies and small business area, including misconduct by registered liquidators.

The Assetless Administration Fund (AAF) team also currently sits within the Portfolio and assess `complex applications' for AA funding and oversees the administration of grants for liquidators of companies with few or no assets available for the liquidator to carry out full investigations and report to ASIC (Director Banning' or `Matters other than Director Banning' Grants) or take action to recover assets (`Asset Recovery' Grants).

The AAF team assess complex AAF applications associated with `Matters Other than Director Banning' and `Asset Recovery'.

The role

As an Analyst or Accountant in the AA Fund team, you will be responsible for assessing complex applications and contributing to the wider ECG team.

In this role you will be required to:

Assess AA Fund applications in accordance with grant guidelines and internal procedures
Engage with registered liquidators and their staff regarding AA Fund applications.
Engage with other ASIC internal stakeholder teams, regarding AA Fund applications
Prepare AA Fund agreements, including scope of works and assessing quotes, and preparing payment requests associated with funded applications
Monitor registered liquidator compliance with the terms of AA Fund agreements, including adequacy of reports lodged with ASIC
About you:

The selection criteria include the qualifications, experience and capabilities required for the role. Your application will be reviewed based on ability to demonstrate, or potential to develop, the capabilities required.

A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, commerce or law or relevant equivalent experience.
Experience working independently and being accountable for outcomes
Experience interpreting legislation, procedural manuals, and guidelines
Practical industry experience in aspects of external administration, including investigations and reporting is desirable
Qualified accountant (CAANZ or CPA) or admitted as a legal practitioner is desirable
Post graduate studies in insolvency law and practice are desirable
