Job Description

Job description
Legal Counsel / Senior Legal Counsel

📍 Milton Keynes (Hybrid Working – 3 days in office)

💼 Excellent salary & bonus, heavily subsidised car scheme

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Legal Counsel or Senior Legal Counsel to join the dynamic legal function of a leading, fast-growing, and internationally backed automotive group.

Operating as part of a respected legal team, this role offers exceptional exposure across a broad range of legal matters. It’s a highly commercial, business-facing role suited to a confident and agile lawyer who enjoys operating at pace and adding real value across an organisation.

The Role

You will work closely with the General Counsel and take a visible position across the business, engaging regularly with executive stakeholders. The scope of work includes:
• Commercial contracts – advising on, negotiating and drafting a wide variety of supplier, software, and OEM agreements, many of significant value or complexity
• Corporate governance – support the implementation and evolution of governance structures, including exec committee and risk board-level processes
• M&A activity – involvement in acquisition and divestment projects as part of the group’s ongoing growth strategy
• Stakeholder collaboration – regular engagement with the Exec team, procurement, data protection, compliance, and operational leadership across the UK business
• Management - responsible for the supervision of two paralegals who handle litigation matters.

This is a hands-on, high-impact role in a business that is growing quickly and evolving its legal function to be a truly strategic enabler.

About You
• You’ll have 5+ years' PQE, with solid experience gained in-house (either fully or as part of a mixed career)
• Confident handling commercial contracts independently
• Able to manage and oversee junior team members and workstreams
• Experienced working in fast-paced, agile commercial environments
• Comfortable influencing senior stakeholders and representing legal at leadership forums
• Governance and/or M&A exposure is beneficial but not essential

The Business

You’ll be joining the UK division of a global automotive group, following a recent major acquisition that has significantly expanded its footprint in the UK. The business is known for its entrepreneurial. Legal is genuinely valued here.

This is a fantastic chance to join a supportive legal team, take on genuine responsibility, and help shape how legal supports the business going forward.
