About the Role
Are you passionate about driving financial excellence in large-scale projects?

As the Finance Lead (Project Accountant), you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring financial integrity and strategic delivery across the University’s enterprise project portfolio. Embedded within the Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO), you’ll provide end-to-end financial support—from business case development and cost modelling to forecasting, variance analysis, and performance reporting. Acting as a trusted advisor to Project Managers and Portfolio Delivery Managers, you’ll help shape sound financial decisions and ensure alignment with institutional policies and funding models.

This role is ideal for a proactive, collaborative professional who thrives in a dynamic environment. You’ll contribute to uplifting financial capability across the EPMO and broader project community, while driving improvements in tools, templates, and reporting practices. Your expertise will be instrumental in enhancing the University’s portfolio financial management maturity, making this a unique opportunity to influence both operational success and strategic growth.

About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

Develop, review, and maintain financial models for business cases, including discounted cash flows, cost build-up, funding profiles, and benefits.
Provide ongoing financial oversight for projects including budgeting, forecasting, reforecasting, and tracking of actuals (including benefits realisation) and analyses of performance against targets (budget/forecast).
Provide oversight of the portfolio's financial contingency, ensuring adequate reserves are maintained to address unforeseen risks and changes within approved tolerances.
Assist in rebalancing of portfolio budgets across initiatives, proactively identifying opportunities to optimise resource allocation and ensure alignment with strategic priorities and overall financial health.
Prepare end-of-month (EOM) reporting packs for project and program financials, providing variance analysis and commentary
Work in close partnership with Finance Business Partners to support funding decisions, align financial records, present budget/forecasts including commentary on material changes, and resolve variances
