About Us

Nova Era Bakery & Pastry is a growing company with 7 active locations across the Greater Toronto Area, committed to quality, tradition, and operational excellence. We are seeking a proactive Accounting and Financial Operations Coordinator to support and oversee finance-related processes across all units. This role involves collaboration with multiple departments and branches to ensure accurate reporting, financial compliance, and exceptional service to internal and external stakeholders.

About the Role

This role bridges financial accuracy and operations coordination. The successful candidate will ensure the integrity of data submitted by operational units, manage financial reporting, oversee client accounts, and support audit and compliance efforts. You will contribute to strategic financial planning while also supporting day-to-day transactions, reporting, and team supervision across our six locations.

Key Responsibilities

· Participating in the implementation and maintenance of accounting systems and controls.

· Review financial submissions from all units for accuracy before posting to the accounting system.

· Prepare financial statements (monthly/quarterly/annually) following IFRS and GAAP standards.

· Generate billing and payment journal entries; enter invoices into the ERP system (SAP/QuickBooks).

· Coordinating and supervising monthly inventory verification and reconciliation.

· Maintain and reconcile fixed asset and lease schedules, including monthly depreciation and IFRS 16 compliance.

· Collaborate with internal departments and branches to standardize processes and ensure timely data sharing.

· Store all transactions digitally, ensuring easy access and audit compliance.

· Produce ad hoc reports, AR/AP reports, and client account summaries.

· Assist with GST/HST/QST filings and monthly reconciliations.

· Support external billing and EDI invoice coordination.

· Participate in regular reviews and year-end audits.

· Supervise and support junior team members and provide training where needed.

· Ensure timely month-end closing and perform classification tasks required by corporate HQ.

· Provide continuous reporting to the CFO, through reports and technical analyses for the development and control of the area.

Qualifications

· Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)

· CPA designation required (equivalent in Canada)

· Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting roles, preferably in multi-site or retail/production environments

· Proficiency in SAP, QuickBooks, NetSuite or similar ERP/accounting software

· Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

· Able to work under pressure and manage deadlines

· Leadership and training capabilities

· Speaking Portuguese is considered a plus
