Job Description

Full job description
Senior Accountant — Client-Facing Specialist in QuickBooks OnlineAbout Us

T&M Business Advisors & Consulting CPAs is a dynamic accountancy firm serving a diverse clientele across Los Angeles, Ventura, Riverside, and San Bernardino Counties. We deliver tailored solutions in GAAP accounting, taxation, business advisory, and advanced financial reporting. Our client roster spans a wide range of industries, which means understanding industry-specific transaction flows and business models is at the heart of what we do.

Job Overview

We are seeking a proactive, detail-driven Senior Accountant who is passionate about understanding businesses from the inside out. In this client-facing role, you’ll partner directly with business owners and management teams, lead the onboarding process, unravel transaction types, and ensure our clients’ accounting accurately reflects their operations and compliance needs.

The ideal candidate is a QuickBooks Online expert, adept with complex journal entries, streamlined onboarding, and full-cycle accounting. You should be comfortable working independently, mentoring junior accountants, and serving as the bridge between our internal CPA leadership and our clients’ day-to-day accounting realities.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage client onboarding in QuickBooks Online: chart of accounts setup, historical data imports, and process mapping tailored to each client’s business model.
Analyze and document client business operations to ensure industry-appropriate categorization of revenue, costs, and intercompany transfers.
Prepare, review, and maintain general ledgers, journal entries, and all core financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow).
Conduct advanced reconciliations of bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts to resolve discrepancies.
Oversee accounts payable/receivable and full double-entry bookkeeping for multiple entities.
Collaborate with clients to clarify the nature and intent of transactions and adjust entries as needed for accuracy and compliance.
Supervise and provide technical mentorship to junior accountants, reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, and staff-prepared tax returns.
Identify workflow improvements and champion best practices for process automation and data accuracy within our QuickBooks Online environment.
Stay current with industry, regulatory, and software updates impacting small business accounting.
Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA, EA, or advanced certification strongly preferred.
Experience: At least 5 years of hands-on accounting experience, ideally in public accounting or professional services, with clear evidence of multi-industry exposure.
Technical Proficiency: Deep expertise in QuickBooks Online (client onboarding, custom reporting, advanced reconciliations, setup of rules and automations). Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills required.
Analytical Skills: Exceptional capability to interpret business operations, spot misclassifications, and recommend structural improvements in client books.
Soft Skills: Strong client communication, documentation, leadership, and mentorship abilities.
Process Mindset: Experience developing, refining, and enforcing accounting SOPs and quality controls.
What We Offer

Hourly Compensation: $25–$27, commensurate with experience and capabilities.
Benefits: Comprehensive package including health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and ongoing education support.
Growth: Pathways to leadership roles, CPA mentorship, and exposure to advanced tax and strategy projects.
Culture: Entrepreneurial, tech-forward, and deeply collaborative environment; your ideas and initiative are valued and rewarded.
