Position Overview: Sunrise Irrigation is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our finance team. This role reports directly to the Controller and will play a vital part in maintaining the financial health of the company through accurate reporting, reconciliation, and financial analysis.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in accounting principles and experience working in a fast-paced environment, ideally within skilled trades such as construction, HVAC, plumbing, landscaping, or related industries. This position offers opportunities for professional growth and exposure to advanced accounting functions, budgeting, and financial strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
Service Titan- reporting, auditing, reconciliation
Cash Reconciliation- utilize/manage Excel daily
AR/AP- track receivables, manage AP
Problem-solving, critical thinking
Other Responsibilities:
Perform general ledger accounting, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
Manage the month-end and year-end close process
Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and reports for management review
Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement
Assist the Controller with budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning
Support compliance with GAAP and internal financial policies
Collaborate across departments for accurate job costing and expense allocation
Maintain documentation and assist with internal and external audits
Continuously improving financial processes, controls, and reporting systems
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business management
QuickBooks Online certified, current use in practice
Recent 2-4 yrs experience in an accounting role
Technical Skills
Proficiency in QuickBooks Online
Proficient in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills (think: formulas, pivot tables, and wizard-level magic)
Technologically savvy
Familiarity with job costing, payroll accounting, and multi-departmental reporting
Experience with ServiceTitan or other field service management software is a plus
Soft Skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Effective communicator with the ability to present financial information clearly
Self-starter who can work independently and collaboratively
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $55,000 - $70,000 annually (based on experience and qualifications)
