Job Purpose

Are you looking for an opportunity to work with a great team and apply what you’ve learned in the classroom to an actual workplace? If so, we are currently seeking a Financial Crime Risk Management (FCRM) Co-op Student to support the FCRM team in effectively managing Coast Capital’s anti-money laundering/anti-terrorist financing (AML/ATF) and fraud risk programs. The successful candidate will work with the team to identify, assess, and report on a variety of AML/ATF and fraud risks and assist in ensuring adherence to applicable regulatory requirements.

Accountabilities

Support the development of AML/ATF and/or fraud risk policies and procedures
Support the day-to-day activities of the AML/ATF and/or fraud risk teams:
Review and process reports required under the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act, such as Large Cash Transaction Reports, Electronic Fund Transfer Reports and determination of Politically Exposed Persons (domestic and foreign) and follow related procedures
Conduct reviews of transaction monitoring and/or fraud alerts and/or investigations resulting from alert reviews
Support data inputs on Suspicious Transaction Reports
Support reviews of high-risk customers and/or fraud investigations
Prepare reports on AML/ATF and/or fraud risk for use by senior management
Skills & Qualifications

3rd or 4th year students currently enrolled in a post-secondary co-op program, co-op students from other programs with relevant skills or experience will also be considered
Proficiency in MS Office applications, specifically Excel
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, SQL experience an asset
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Team player with great attention to detail who is able to work well independently with minimal supervision
Strong organization and time management skills
Strong interpersonal skills
Proficient research skills
Be adaptable to work between different tasks and changing priorities
