Job description
The Quality Department is vital in supporting the distillation and maturation processes at the Gimli Distillery to ensure the production of high-quality whisky. This role as part of the Quality Team will play a key role in delivering on the quality and food safety commitments of the organization in ensuring that client standards are maintained.

Purpose of Role:

The Lab Technician is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the site’s laboratories. The Lab Technician will be integral in ensuring that key testing criteria are completed and communicated in a timely manner. A high level of decision-making is required for the acceptance criteria.

Responsibilities:
• Testing/inspection of incoming grain to ensure conformance to specifications.
• Analytical testing on process samples and finished product to ensure adherence to specifications
• Operation of various laboratory instruments including a High-Performance Liquid Chromatograph.
• Ensuring the delivery of Laboratory Validation, Calibration and Maintenance Programs
• Yeast cell counts
• Data entry, manage lab records.
• Sensory analysis of distillates and maturates.
• Create and maintain laboratory testing procedures.
• Support compliance to ISO 9001 and the Quality Management System
• Deliver on Quality objectives as assigned.
• Other duties as assigned by the Governance Manager

Qualifications and Experience:
• A good knowledge of laboratory systems and processes
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
• Excellent time management, influencing and communication skills.
• Accurate, dependable individual with strong attention to detail
• Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work well on own or as part of a team.
• Strong organization skills

Must Have Skills:
• 3-5 years of analytical experience in a laboratory or food manufacturing environment with demonstrated laboratory testing capabilities.
• Experience with Liquid Chromatography
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

Nice to Have Skills:
• Knowledge of SAP

Education:

Degree/Diploma in Science preferred

• Preferred years of experience : 3+ Years
• Travel Required : No travel required
• Shift timings: 6:30 am to 4:30 pm
