The organization was founded in 1972 to serve the needs of vulnerable populations throughout New York City.#160;#160;/span/span/ppspanspanProvides transportation to older adults for individual and group rides to grocery shopping, stores, museums, community centers, and social events and gatherings./span/span/ppspanstrongspanRate of pay: $18.50/span/strong/span/ppspanspanstrongSchedule/strong: spanspanMonday #8211; Friday /spanON CALL/AS NEEDED/span/span/span/ppspanspanstrongLocation/strong: 27-40 Hoyt Avenue South, Astoria, NY 11102/span/span/ppstrongspanspanEssential Functions and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:/span/span/strong/pullispanspanspanspanspanSafely transport older adults to and from group trips as scheduled./span/span/span/span/span/lilispanspanspanspanspanAssist clients onto and off the van, when necessary and can determine that need./span/span/span/span/span/lilispanspanspanspanspanEnsure safety of clients on board by requiring use of seatbelts, wheelchair/span/span/span#160;spanspanspanbrackets, and other safety devices./span/span/span/span/span/lilispanspanspanspanspanLegibly complete passenger log on a daily basis./span/span/span/span/span/lilispanspanspanspanspanCollects participants#8217; contributions daily./span/span/span/span/span/lilispanspanspanspanspanPerform administrative tasks in the office when required including/span/span/span#160;spanspanspananswering the phone, communicating with older adults, recording/span/span/span#160;spanspanspancontributions, contacting car service companies./span/span/span/span/span/lilispanspanspanspanspanMaintain vehicle in clean and operating condition./span/span/span/span/span/lilispanspanspanspanspanInspect vehicle daily and report any operational or structural defects to/span/span/span#160;spanspanspansupervisor./span/span/span/span/span/lilispanspanspanspanspanSanitize the bus after every individual and group ride./span/span/span/span/span/lilispanspanspanspanspanOversee routine maintenance, repairs, and cleaning of vehicle (fuel, oil/span/span/span/span/span/lilispanspanspanspanspanchanges, tires, etc.)./span/span/span/span/span/lilispanspanspanspanspanMaintain gasoline and mileage records daily./span/span/span/span/span/lilispanspanspanspanspanOrganize vehicle repair log in maintenance books./span/span/span/span/span/lilispanspanspanspanspanPick up vehicle and return it to the garage at the end of the day./span/span/span/span/span/lilispanspanspanAdditional tasks that may be required./span/span/span/li/ulpstrongspanspanQualifications:#160;/span/span/strong/pullispanspanspanspanbuspanClean amp; valid NYS Commercial Driver#8217;s License CLASS B #8211; Please do not apply if you do not have a CLASS B CDL /span/u/b/span/span/span/span/lilispanspanspanspanspan2#160;years of driving experience/span/span/span/span/span/lilispanspanspanspanspanAbility to read, write, and speak in English.
