About the school

The Edward Betham CE Primary School is looking to appointment an enthusiastic and reliable Part-Time Teaching Assistant to join our high-achieving two-form entry school. Graded as a ‘Good’ school by Ofsted in 2026, and an ‘Excellent’ school by SIAMS in 2026.

We are looking to appoint a part-time (4 hrs 25 minutes per week) Teaching Assistant as soon as possible. Duties will include 1:1 and small group support in Year 2, general in-class and lunchtime support.

About you:

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

Previous experience of working with children with additional needs
An understanding of autism (preferably, a certificated course related to autism)
A warm manner, yet an ability to maintain firm and clear boundaries for behaviour, learning and social communication
Excellent communication, literacy and numeracy skills
Ability to work in a team and make a positive contribution to raising standards and making all adults and children feel part of the school
A positive, pro-active approach to supporting pupils’ social and behavioural needs
Experience of running intervention programmes (e.g. Numeracy/literacy programmes for pupils of lower ability with additional learning needs)
