Full job description
The Arcadia Group are proud owners and operators of premier retirement communities across Western Australia and Victoria, where our residents enjoy independent living within a supported and welcoming environment.

Our two distinguished Rylands communities, located in the well-connected Melbourne suburbs of Hawthorn East and Kew, are currently seeking applicants for a permanent part-time position within our Reception / Concierge / Sleepover teams.

Reporting to the Village Manager and working as part of a close-knit and professional team, this diverse position is ideally suited to mature and dedicated customer service professionals. Backgrounds in hospitality, hotel concierge, nursing, the airline industry, or the defence forces are highly regarded.

These roles operate on a shift-work basis, including evening sleepover (non-contact) shifts. As such, the positions are best suited to individuals who live locally and can offer flexibility across a rotating roster from Monday through Sunday.

The broad duties of the role include:

Welcoming all customers to our communities in person or over the phone
Providing support and assistance to residents with general enquiries
Maintaining the reception, lounge, and café to ensure impeccable presentation
Coordinating emergency services during emergency situations
General office administration as required and directed by the Manager
Managing resident requests for restaurant table bookings, including coordinating numbers and payments for social events and functions
Assisting in restaurant service and supporting the café and bar as needed
Working collaboratively in a team environment with other staff
Maintaining safe work practices
Candidates must be flexible in covering a variety of shifts across the fortnight, including a minimum of two evening "Sleepover" shifts per week:Monday–Friday

Day shifts: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
Evening shifts: 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm
Evening “Sleepover” (non-contact) shifts: 9:00 pm to 7:00 am
Morning shifts: 7:00 am to 9:00 am
Saturday–Sunday

Morning shifts: 7:00 am to 12:00 pm
Afternoon shifts: 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm
Evening shifts: 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm
Evening “Sleepover” (non-contact) shifts: 9:00 pm to 7:00 am
Note: Sleepover shifts require you to sleep overnight within our Village Sleep Room and respond to resident emergencies when required.

Your application should demonstrate:

At least 3 years' experience in a similar role or environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
A current Senior First Aid Certificate (required)
A current Police Clearance Certificate, valid within the last 3 months (required)
Experience with point-of-sale systems and intermediate knowledge of Excel and Word
Barista knowledge (highly regarded)
Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate (required)
As this role involves regular engagement with older people, candidates must be reliable, customer-focused, have a friendly personality, and demonstrate patience and a calm demeanour.

Candidates must also acknowledge that evening sleepover (non-contact) shifts are a non-negotiable requirement of this role, along with weekend and daytime shifts, and the occasional additional shift to cover absences.

If you meet the above criteria and are willing to work across all required shifts, please apply now with a cover letter and an accompanying resume.

Only candidates with permanent work rights in Australia should apply.
