The UK government provides tax incentives to businesses performing R&D and developing/exploiting patented technology; Deloitte’s Innovation tax services group is a market leader in helping clients secure these incentives and is the most experienced team in the UK.

Continued market success has created new opportunities and we are now looking to recruit candidates with a tax and financial background, to help join this successful team. You will have the opportunity to apply your knowledge across a wide range of areas and to help companies identify the innovation tax (R&D and Patent Box) claims for these incentives. This role can involve activities such as data analysis, claim quantification, applying the appropriate tax principles, building client relationships, project management and business development across all sectors and different types innovation.

As an Associate Director you will be in a client-facing role from day one, managing projects, preparing R&D & Patent Box claims, delegating, building the team and involved in growing the practice from a business development perspective. You will be working with a variety of team members from junior to senior grades and be the main point of contact for your clients.

Your responsibilities will include:

Lead projects being the main point of contact with a range of senior stakeholders such as financial controllers, finance directors and chief finance officers.
Build eminence in the market and look for opportunities to grow the team.
Build an internal network within Deloitte and gain an understanding of the services the firm can offer to broaden client relationships and differentiate us in the market.
Work within a project team to ensure that robust R&D/Patent Box claims are prepared whilst building deep client relationships.
Preparing clear reports for submission to HMRC to explain how our clients’ R&D and Patent Box claims have been prepared.
Provide technical input into marketing and sales activity based on your location and sectors which you have experience in.
Work effectively in diverse teams within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution.
Project managing a variety of projects at any given time and being able to delegate and work with the technical and finance team around you.

Be able to work within multi-disciplinary teams, taking responsibility for the costing aspects of R&D and Patent Box claims.
