Job Description

"Shangri-La Sydney is the city's leading luxury hotel. Located in the historic Rocks district between the Sydney Opera and Harbour Bridge, our hotel offers 565 spacious and inspired luxury guests' rooms and suites, 4 food & beverage outlets and 18 functions rooms.


An incredible opportunity has arisen for skilled and experienced Shift Engineers to join the Engineering Team in Shangri-La Sydney.


About the Role:

Responsible for supervising outside Contractors whilst working for the Engineering Department and ensure the service report is signed before handing over to Director of Engineering for final signature.

Tests water in cooling, heating, steam systems and pool systems, and applies correct chemical treatment dosage to maintain water condition within set parameters on a daily basis and per the shift checklist.

Inspects all plant rooms, electrical compartments and service ducts under the control of the Engineering Department are secure and clean on a daily basis and per the shift checklist

Operates, monitors, repairs and maintains all hotel systems and equipment including boilers, steam generators, waste chemistry, air conditioning plant, pumps, calorifiers, refrigeration plant and electrical supply.

Operates the hotel building automation system to adjust HVAC and other system parameters consistent with high operating efficiency and reduced energy costs.

About You:

Diploma or higher in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering

Completed apprenticeship in a relevant trade (e.g. Fitter, Electrician, A/C)

2+ years’ experience as a shift engineer handling HVAC, steam, electrical, and water systems

2+ years’ experience as a maintenance fitter or electrician in hotels or similar environments

Willing to work rotating shifts, 7 days a week

Skilled in using Building Management Systems for diagnostics and adjustments

Good English communication skills

Hotel experience preferred

Must have full Australian work rights
