We’re seeking a detail-oriented Database Administrator to join a high-performing IT division within the built environment sector. This role focuses on managing and optimising a bespoke internal system that underpins critical data operations and digital infrastructure across the business.
You’ll play a key role in system performance, database integrity, and user support—bridging technical execution with strategic outcomes that enhance client service, empower internal teams, and support business growth.
Key Responsibilities
• Database & System Oversight: Ensure optimal performance, security and availability of bespoke platforms through daily monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Implementation & Maintenance: Manage system updates, test cycles (UAT), releases and change control processes.
• Integration & API Management: Maintain platform integrations, monitor API health, and support seamless data flow across systems.
• User & Stakeholder Collaboration: Translate business requirements into database functions and technical solutions.
• Training & Enablement: Deliver system inductions, training sessions, and documentation for super users.
• Security & Continuity: Work with IT specialists to maintain access control, secure data practices, and robust disaster recovery protocols.
• Documentation & Reporting: Keep detailed records of configurations, procedures, and resolution protocols for internal use.
Essential Skills & Experience
• 3–5 years' proven experience in database administration across medium-to-large organisations
• Strong knowledge of database security, backup/recovery planning, and performance tuning
• Proficiency in system architecture, integration logic, and database monitoring tools
• Clear communication and stakeholder management across technical and non-technical teams
• Experience with cloud-based database environments is highly advantageous
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline
• Recognised database administration certifications are highly desirable
• Demonstrable experience in similar environments is preferred
