Pratt Institute is seeking highly motivated Public Safety Officers to join its Public Safety Team at the Brooklyn and Manhattan campuses. This position will support the Institute’s safety and security operations by maintaining a safe and secure environment for our students, faculty, staff, alumni, and visitors by patrolling and monitoring the safety and security conditions on Pratt Institute’s property. The successful candidates will help in fostering a welcoming environment as you may serve as a basic source of information to the Pratt community and visitors.If you have at least two years of proven experience in the security field, can demonstrate your ability to successfully manage stressful situations and conflicts, can demonstrate your ability to exercise good judgement, and have excellent knowledge of public safety and security procedures/protocols, then this this could be your opportunity to join a dynamic team that that prides itself in professionalism, collegiality, and integrity.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Be visible and observant at all times, greeting students, faculty, staff, guests, and vendors in a courteous and attentive manner while ensuring a safe environment through a team effort of diligent active patrol, strict access control, monitoring, and equipment controlRespond immediately to distress calls, panic alarms, fire alarms and emergency calls for service swiftly and appropriately while maintaining professionalism and legal compliance. Observe and report all unsafe conditions, unusual occurrences, or disturbances in both oral and written communicationCollaborate with other public safety officers, contract security officers and all outside first responder agencies as required for effective campus proactive and reactive response to calls for service.
