Montessori Assistant Teacher - Part-Time

American Montessori Academy-South Loop Campus (47 W. Polk)

American Montessori Academy School located in the South Loop of Chicago. We are searching for Assistant Teachers & floaters working with 0-9 year old students.

This is an excellent opportunity for those interested in teaching in a high quality Montessori environment. For Assistant Teachers: Montessori Experience of any kind is a plus but not required. IL DCFS lead teacher qualification is preferred. Experience working and/or caring for children in some capacity is required.

Job Responsibilities Include:
-Must be willing to take direction from lead teacher, administration, and other staff members
-Ability to commit to schedule and assist when needed
-Communicate effectively and peacefully with students, lead teacher, administration, and other staff members
-Assist and maintain a peaceful and mindful learning environment for students
-Assist in the arrival and dismissal of students
-Supervise students during work cycle, recess, nap, and/or other activities throughout the day
-Participate in required professional development and training programs throughout the year
-Observe student behaviors and step in when appropriate
-Submit and maintain student records on Kangarootime
-Assist in preparing snack and lunch for students
-Comfortable with diapering, toilet training, and/or changing student's clothes
-Attend and participate in meetings and training when needed
-Assist in preparing, creating, organizing and cleaning the classroom environment and materials daily
-Consistently communicating student progress or concerns with the lead teacher, administration, and other staff when appropriate
-Comfortable with receiving feedback from lead teacher and administration
-Flexible with shifting work hours to secure coverage for the day
-Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements Include:
-Submit 3 reference letters upon hire
-Willing to stand for long periods of time
-Ability to lift 30lbs
-Ability to move from seated to standing position quickly to attend to student's needs
-Ability to pass a background check and TB test
-Minimum education of a High School Diploma
