Be part of a fun and active team this summer, keeping your community safe in the water
Kickstart your career in the Aquatics Industry with hands-on experience
As a summer lifeguard, enjoy an active, rewarding role where you make a real difference and have fun every day!

He angitūtanga: The opportunity

Keen to make the most of your summer with a job that’s active, rewarding, and full of good vibes?

Whether you're a student, looking for a career change, or simply want to stay connected and active, this could be the perfect fit! Join Auckland Council Pool and Leisure Centres as a Summer Lifeguard and enjoy a role where you can meet great people and make a real difference in your community.

As a summer lifeguard, your job is to help everyone stay safe and have fun at our pools by keeping a close eye on things and following health and safety rules.

Your key responsibilities:
Keep the pool area safe through active supervision and friendly interactions
Promote and enforce pool rules in a positive way
Respond quickly and calmly to any First Aid emergencies

We have 3 x 20 hours fixed-term opportunities during our busy summer period from 10th Nov 2026/1st of December until February or March 2026 at our Stanmore Bay Pool and Leisure Centre. Shifts below:

Saturdays or Sundays (9:45am-6:15pm)
Mondays-Fridays (7:30am-11:30am or 11am-7:30pm)

You may also be asked to cover shifts for sickness from time to time, which could mean early mornings (with 5am starts) or late evenings (finishing at 9:15pm). We’d love all our seasonal team members to work at least one weekend day, so if you’re flexible and ready to jump in where needed, this is the perfect role for you!

As our centre operates from 5.30AM to 9PM Monday to Friday, 7 days a week, the ability to work early morning, late night, and weekend are vital. Flexibility, reliability and a commitment to working early, late, and weekend shifts are essential.

He kōrero mōu: About you

Pick up an object from the bottom of the pool – max depth: 5M
