About Us

About the Role

As a Locomotive Driver, you will prepare and operate locomotives and trains in a variety of environments while adhering to safety standards, ensuring compliance with procedures and operational requirements. You will also be expected to work both independently and as part of a team, playing a key role in ensuring that customer and operational requirements are met, with a particular focus on safety, delivery and quality.

Your strong communication skills and judgment will be key in achieving safe operations in high-risk work environments.

Key responsibilities include:

Performing/coordinating shunting movements, both independently and in cooperation with Shift Supervisors, in accordance with established procedures and standards
Processing and monitoring train performance information
Provisioning and preparing locomotives for train operations including checking and testing control systems as well as preparing relevant compliance documentation
Working with key internal stakeholders to work towards a Delivered In-Full, On-Time (DIFOT) performance for the Pacific National group
Proactively working towards and supporting the achievement of safety goals
On-going commitment to company values of safety, integrity, accountability and teamwork
About You

To be successful in this role you will be an experienced Locomotive Driver with a current Cert IV in Train Driving. You will have a strong regard to safety, demonstrate a positive and proactive attitude and be capable of working in a fast-paced environment. Successful candidates must be able and willing to work a 24/7 rotating roster.

You will also possess the following skills, attributes and experience:

A basic level of computer proficiency
A strong customer focused approach to your work
Passion for success and willingness to undertake ongoing training and development activities
A genuine interest in adding value and helping our business to grow
Current C Class motor vehicle licence is essential
Ability to complete a Category 1 Rail Medical and Drug & Alcohol test
Demonstrate a strong knowledge of rail safety and train handling procedures
