Job Summary

The position of HR Manager will work closely with the HR Director in supporting the HR function in the assigned geographic regions. The HR Manager performs human resources-related duties at the professional level and may carry out responsibilities in some or all of the following functional areas: employee and labor relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment, employment and employment law compliance. This position will also support the Corporate Human Resources Department by assisting with various HR programs and projects. Additionally, it will assist in promoting positive relationships between employees and management and must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

Compensation

This is a full-time, exempt position based in Sacremento, California (SMF Office).

The expected base salary range for this role is $95,000 to $110,000 per year.

Actual compensation within this range will be determined based on factors such as the relevant experience, skills, education, and internal equity.

Responsibilities
• Assists in the administration of various human resource functions for the assigned geographic location(s); assists in the interpretation and implementation of personnel policies and procedures. Partners with employees and management to communicate various human resource policies, procedures, laws, standards and other government regulations.
• Maintains all employee and applicant documentation as dictated by company and/or governing agencies.
• Maintains working relationship with union officials and adheres to terms of labor contract by monitoring day-to-day implementation of policies concerning wages, hours and working conditions.
• Coordinates management training in interviewing, hiring, terminations promotions, performance review, safety, and ****** harassment.
• Assists HR Director in investigating, answering and settling grievances, by arranging and scheduling grievance hearings between union personnel, supervisor and the management team.
• Assists HR Director in responding to all EEOC and NLRB charges.
• May review benefits with employees and processes enrollment, cancellation or changes. May assist in the organization and communication of the annual open enrollment and election process.
• Conducts recruitment effort for all exempt and nonexempt personnel and temporary employees; conducts new-employee orientations; and assists in the writing and placement of advertisements. Assist with and/or coordinate the internal job posting program. Reviews applications and interviews applicants to match experience with specific job-related requirements. Submit the online applicant investigation requests and assist with new employee background checks.
• Responds to employee relation issues such as employee complaints, harassment allegations and civil rights complaints. Handles employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling and exit interviewing. Acts as an employee relations specialist.

Minimum Requirements
• 5+ years of HR Generalist experience required preferably in a manufacturing/warehouse environment.
• Aviation cargo experience a plus.
• Labor Relations experience is required.
• Associates' or Bachelor's degree in HR or Business preferred. PHR Certification is a plus.
• Must be customer oriented, and work effectively under stressful conditions.
• Must be self-managing independent and motivated.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks at the same time.

Preferred Skills
• Experience with ADP is a plus
• Familiarity with personal computer software helpful
• Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
• Ability to work independently without direct supervision is essential
• Must be a team player, have the ability to work under pressure, have a professional image and be able to resolve problems and conflicts
• Must possess basic business communications skills such as advanced writing, listening and have basic office and mathematics skills, and customer service skills.
• Possession of professional skills such as report writing, basic statistics, effective presentation skills and creative skills are required
• Previous experience with Internet and MS Office Skills, including MS Word and MS Excel required

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
• Remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
• Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
• Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.
• Walk short distances.
• Reach above and/or below shoulder.
• Handle/grasp documents or office equipment.
• Sit and/or stand for short or extended periods of time.
• Lift/carry/move objects, files and documents up to 10 pounds.
• Work in an office environment using standard office equipment.
• Talk, listen, and speak clearly on telephone.
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
