The role

We are currently on the hunt for a COMSEC Advisor to help ensure that GCSB network and NZSIS messaging services remain operational 24/7. You will join a collaborative, friendly and productive team who pride themselves on being able to provide exceptional service to customers across the NZIC.

You will be a senior member of this team and once fully trained will become the subject matter expert in this area.

What you'll do

Own the COMSEC Custodianship for both GCSB and NZSIS - you'll be the guardian of our cryptographic assets
Be the escalation point for internal and external agency customers, delivering rapid, decisive support
Monitor & protect the GCSB wide‑area network, spotting anomalies and driving corrective action before they become incidents
Validate and key all cryptographic equipment, ensuring flawless operation around the clock

Who we're looking for

We need a seasoned professional with experience in a technical role, and the ability to learn quickly and hit the ground running. You will have exceptional problem-solving skills, top-notch communication skills and a results-oriented mind-set with a desire to never stop learning. We are looking for people who have a drive for continuous improvement, willingness to champion change, whilst also being process oriented.

The expected appointing range for this position is between $87,048 - $92,851.

Before you apply

Working within our unique environment means we have to ensure you're eligible for employment.

You must:
Have been a New Zealand Citizen for at least 10 years

OR

Hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of the UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years

Be eligible to obtain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearance

Ordinarily, this means you'll have a 15 year checkable background in countries NZSIS Vetting can make meaningful and reliable checks.
