Job Description

Full job description
Available at short notice
Confident and outgoing, working across our amazing hubs & libraries
Having a driver licence and personal vehicle is preferred

About the role

We are looking for multiple people to join us as casual Pou Tiaki (Hosts) to provide additional resource to our neighbourhood hubs on an ad hoc basis, as and when required. These roles are specifically to ensure continuity on sites, providing cover when staff are on leave.

The role of the Pou Tiaki is to be the friendly and welcoming face at our various facilities providing information and support to our customers. You'll be the connection between us and the customers, assisting with a variety of things including venue hire, library services, events, and functions, general enquires and other ad hoc duties.

We are looking for those interested in working across the city at our various Neighbourhood Hubs & Libraries locations:

Eastbourne
Kōraunui Stokes Valley
Moerā
Naenae
Petone
Wainuiomata
Walter Nash Centre
War Memorial
These roles provide plenty of variety in terms of location and nature of work so you can really make them your own - as long as you come with a positive attitude and willingness to help, you will thrive in this environment. The work we do is community-focused and meaningful which in turn provides a great training ground to build your experience and people skills.

This is a great opportunity to be connected to your community while having the flexibility to work when it suits you - we are always looking for those keen to lend their skills to keep our facilities ticking.

About You

You are reliable and are available at short notice, between 08:30 - 18:30 on weekdays and 09:30 - 18:30 on weekends, appreciating that you will have commitments outside of work, however, would generally be available when needed. Some venues (War Memorial and Walter Nash Centre) have late nights or events that run later into the evening, and you may be occasionally asked to work these shifts.

Driver licence and personal vehicle are desired, as this role requires the person to work across Hutt City. We are also looking for candidates who are confident and outgoing to work across a number of our amazing teams. There may be opportunity to pick up fixed term arrangements occasionally, but this depends on the needs.

About Us

At Hutt City Council our vision is to build a connected, resilient and inclusive city where all of our people thrive - Kia noho mai tēnei tāone hei pou herenga waka, hei pou herenga kaupapa, hei wāhi whai hua ki hōna iwi.

Our council has set out a bold and ambitious plan for us to achieve. We work hard to deliver the best outcomes for our communities, are flexible in our approach, and we're committed to creating an inclusive and progressive work environment for our staff.
