About the Role
We're delivering some of the most ambitious capital works in Hutt City's history and we need an experienced procurement professional to help make it happen.
As our Senior Procurement Specialist dedicated to supporting the Capital Delivery team, you'll play a key role in ensuring our infrastructure and transport projects are delivered effectively and with lasting value for our community. While part of the Procurement team, you'll work primarily alongside the Capital Delivery group to drive procurement outcomes that support complex projects, including the transformational RiverLink programme.
In this role, you will:
Lead end-to-end procurement processes for major infrastructure, transport, and capital works projects
Partner with project managers and stakeholders to design and implement procurement strategies that deliver value and reduce risk
Provide advice on procurement best practice, compliance, and contract management across a portfolio of significant projects
Support the evaluation of tenders, supplier negotiations, and the management of high-value contracts
Build strong relationships across Council, with contractors, and external partners to ensure successful project outcomes
About You
You're a senior procurement specialist with the experience and confidence to step into a one of the region's largest projects. You'll bring strong technical expertise and a collaborative style that ensures procurement delivers real outcomes. You will have:
Significant experience in procurement within infrastructure, transport, or capital works projects; or experience leading corporate/commercial procurement activities in a complex organisation
Strong understanding of procurement strategy, tendering processes, and contract management (NZ public sector or NZS 3910 experience advantageous)
Excellent relationship management skills, with the ability to engage confidently with internal and external stakeholders
Proven ability to balance compliance with innovative procurement approaches that support project delivery
