The role
The NZSIS is looking for a Protective Monitoring Centre (PMC) Manager to lead the delivery and performance of all PMC activities. The PMC is a critical insider threat mitigation capability at the core of our mission and is responsible for collecting and analysing log data to detect, deter and disrupt insider threat within the NZIC and wider NZ Government.
The NZIC PMC is a unique and diverse unit within the intelligence community, offering a range of exciting opportunities now, and into the future for an experienced leader.
As the PMC Manager, you will be responsible for:
Leading the PMC team
Strategic planning and change leadership
Complex budget management
Planning and provisioning for operational risk management and guidance
Supporting both technical and intelligence work to support protective security work within the NZIC, and wider NZ government.
A critical part of this role is maintaining and enhancing a wide range of relationships, both internally within the NZIC, and externally within the wider government. The PMC also has very strong relationships our international partners, collaborating frequently and supporting the development
Who we're looking for
Key to succeeding in this position is the ability to:
Effectively lead a high functioning interdisciplinary team of specialists
Work well under pressure, using good judgement and displaying a high level of initiative
Strong verbal communication skills for both technical and non-technical customers
Project manage, coordinate and deliver key strategic initiatives
The PMC Manager role is a unique and exciting opportunity. People leadership is a must. Technological expertise is advantageous, but not required as you will be well supported by technical subject matter experts. Aptitude to learn and understand as you go is essential.

Working within our unique environment means we have to ensure you're eligible for employment.
You must:
Have been a New Zealand Citizen for at least 10 years
OR
Hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of the UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years
Be eligible to obtain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearance
Ordinarily, this means you'll have a 15 year checkable background in countries NZSIS Vetting can make meaningful and reliable checks.
