Full job description
Permanent, full-time opportunity
MIT recognises the special obligation we have to serve the people, communities and employers of South Auckland and that achieving excellence in tertiary education is critical to both our mission and to the future economic and social prosperity of NZ.

We are seeking a permanent, full-time Library Assistant to work in our Lending Services Team. This position is based mainly at our Manukau Campus Library. This position is worked Monday to Friday and requires flexible working arrangements across the full span of the library's opening hours including an evening shift (until 5 pm).

The main responsibilities are to assist with general library circulation duties and answering basic information enquiries. It is essential to have excellent verbal and written communication skills, a commitment to providing top quality customer service, a high level of proficiency in the use of information technology, especially MS Office, a team focus and empathy to other cultures. A tertiary qualification is preferred and previous library experience is desirable.

This is an entry level position, and our ideal candidate would be someone who has started, or intends to study towards a career in librarianship.

At MIT you will work with some incredible people who are passionate about the positive impact we make in the communities we serve. We offer a work environment which values genuine people who care for others, are well-connected, open and approachable and strive for excellence in all we do. If you are excited by this role and feel you would fit into our organisation, we would love to hear from you.

"Kua herea mātou ki te whai i te tūturutanga o Te Tiriti O Waitangi." We are committed to creating and maintaining a culturally sensitive work environment in relation to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
