Salary £30,000 - 38,000 - Experience Dependant

The Opportunity:

Supercritical is looking for a Lab Technician to join our lab research and development team, based in West London. The role will suit an applicant with a good background in lab-based experimentation. This is an opportunity to join an exciting and purpose-driven startup.

You will join an exciting and fast moving company that is intent on disrupting the energy industry and enabling a net zero future.

What you’ll do:
• Conducting high-quality testing to support product development
• Assembly and disassembly of test hardware and test equipment
• Adhering to test procedures to meet research and development requirements
• Assisting in the improvement of testing procedures and processes to enhance the quality and consistency of testing
• Calibrating and maintaining equipment
• Meeting testing deadlines as per the plan
• Reporting any variances or issues that affect test results
• Collaborating with a team to achieve goals
• Strictly following all safety and operating procedures in the lab
• Coordinating and communicating work with the wider team

About you

Ideally, you will:
• Experience in lab-based research/testing
• Strong analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and a team-oriented attitude
• Experience with high pressure and high temperature fluid systems, with knowledge of supercritical water conditions being an advantage
• Experience in maintaining and operating test stands
• Knowledge of risk assessments & good lab practice.
• A passion for product development and a commitment to a net-zero environment
• Strong organisational and communication skills
• Proactivity and self-motivation
• Knowledge of laboratory health and safety protocols
• Ability to understand and execute standard operating procedures
• Familiarity with unexpected results or issues

Desirable
• Experience in electrolyser cell system testing
• A degree in science or engineering
• Basic knowledge of data logging and hardware control
• Experience in automation, high-throughput experimentation, data science, programming, and research development
• Knowledge of HAZIDs and HAZOPs
• Training in first aid and fire warden for a lab/workshop environment
• High-level understanding of electrochemical technology and equipment for troubleshooting purposes.

Summary

Our company is a global leader with the supply of Commercial Refrigeration Equipment and we're building on our success with ambitious growth plans for the future. We’re now looking to attract another keen individual to join our Regulatory Laboratory Testing Team located in Goldthorpe, South Yorkshire.

Duties
• Assist in maintaining accurate documentation for equipment records, equipment calibration, laboratory room calibrations and all testing activities conducted.
• Using the company's test data software, download and organize Excel data sheets.
• Communicate test results to engineers, highlight opportunities for further development, and produce detailed level reports for both internal and external review after training.
• Collaborate with cross functional teams and work with technical experts within the USA and UK R&D functions.
• Support cabinet and individual product design efforts, as well as the launch of new innovative products.
• Conduct compliance and validation testing for our global product range with respect to safety and performance.
• Loading refrigeration equipment with test packages, attaching thermocouples to products and equipment to be tested.
• Set test laboratory to required temperature and humidity standard prior to testing.
• Other basic laboratory duties as required by the company.

Skills Required
• IT - Experience with MS Word, MS Excel and Outlook: A strong competency in performing numerical operations within Excel spreadsheets is required. Full training on company data recording systems will be provided to the successful candidate.
• Quality Focus: As an accredited ISO 17025 laboratory the attention to detail for product data is very important, the applicant must be attentive while conducting data management.
• Self-Motivation: Proactive and driven, actively contributing to achieving both departmental and company-wide goals.
• Organizational Skills: Ability to assess processes and implement best practices to maximize efficiency.
• Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal skills for collaborating with team members and coordinating tasks effectively.
• Team-Oriented: Must be a collaborative team player, working seamlessly with others across the department and company.
• Passion: A genuine interest and enthusiasm for the role and career development.
• General Duties: Willingness to assist with daily tasks, including housekeeping responsibilities.
