Shangri-La the Marina, Cairns is a luxury five-star hotel located beside Marlin Marina and Trinity Inlet in the heart of Cairns. With 255 guest rooms, 19 function venues and extensive food-and-beverage facilities, the property is part of a leading international company with more than 100 hotels and resorts worldwide.
At Shangri-La The Marina, Cairns we are seeking a dedicated and experienced Human Resources Officer to join our team of dedicated individuals within Human Resources Department.
The Role
As a Human Resources Officer, the role is of a general scope with a focus on recruitment. You will also be helping with various HR needs and employee engagement projects as required. This position requires 2 to 3 years previous Human Resources experience and would suit a Coordinator or recently appointed business partner.
What you can expect to do:
Liaise with Department Managers with regards to recruitment needs of entry level and line management positions, manage recruitment and selection of as designated by the Director of HR.
Coordinates final selection decision with Department Managers and Hotel or General Manager, keeping the department manager fully informed at all times.
Responsible for the letter of employment of all new colleagues and data entry into the Human Resources Information System and Payroll.
Coordinates and participates in all recruitment activities, e.g. recruitment days, career fairs.
Composes employment advertisements with appropriate media in conjunction with the Director of Human Resources. This comprises drafting the advertisement and liaising with the preferred advertising medium ensuring accuracy to portray the 5 star Shangri-La Brand image.
Responsible for the efficient administration of employee terminations, transfers, promotions, Personnel Action Forms, and Job Requisitions for colleagues.
Manage data recording and preparation of statistical analysis to identify trends and areas for improvement.
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and interpretation pertaining to the Fair Work Act, NES, WHS Act, and other relevant Awards & EA.
Assist, direct, and guide the team through the employee life cycle and recommend and implement innovative ideas.
About You:
To be considered for this position, you must have the following abilities and skills to perform the responsibilities outlined below:
Excellent communication skills in reading and writing English
Certificate, Diploma or Degree in Human Resources (preferred)
Computer literacy - Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Lotus Notes, and the Internet.
Recruitment exposure at all levels including the use of web-based recruitment applications.
Knowledge of the Hotel environment
Background in a similar position, with prior experience within the hospitality or hotel sector, is essential.
