The Digital Unit at Christchurch City Council is a future-focused, high-performing team that leads the delivery of digital transformation across the organisation. We enable smarter, more connected services for our communities through innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

This role sits at the heart of the Digital Leadership Team, providing essential coordination and operational support to the Head of Digital and senior leadership team across the unit. It plays a key part in helping us deliver on our strategic priorities — by ensuring our leadership team is well-supported, informed, and able to focus on what matters most.

About the role | Ko te mahi nei

As the Digital Leadership Assistant, you'll be the go-to person for enabling the smooth operation of our leadership team. You'll manage diaries, coordinate meetings, prepare reports, and handle sensitive communications — all while keeping things running behind the scenes.

Your mahi will include:

Supporting the Head of Digital and Digital Leadership Team with day-to-day coordination and strategic priorities
Managing correspondence, reporting, and stakeholder engagement
Facilitating ways of working and digital collaboration
Ensuring operational excellence through process improvement and governance alignment
This is a dynamic and varied role where no two days are the same — and where your contribution will directly impact the success of our digital transformation journey.

About you | Ko Koe Tēnei

You'll bring a strong background in executive support, ideally with experience in the digital or local government sector. You're digitally savvy, highly organised, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

We're looking for someone who:

Has at least 6 years' experience supporting senior leaders or management teams
Is confident using Microsoft 365, Teams, SharePoint, and other collaboration tools
Communicates clearly and professionally, with excellent judgement and discretion
Builds strong relationships and works well across diverse teams
Is proactive, reliable, and committed to delivering high-quality mahi
Understands the importance of confidentiality, governance, and stakeholder engagement
Values biculturalism and is open to learning and applying Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles in their work

Hours of work - Full time
Position - Permanent
Location - This position is primarily based at Te Hononga, Christchurch City Council Civic Offices - 53 Hereford Street
Salary - The salary band for this position goes from $67,635 to $75,150 per annum based on a 40 hour week. Starting salaries will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relativities both, within the immediate team and in the broader organisation for the same or similar roles.
Closing Date - Sunday 2nd November
