We are looking for a creative, detail-oriented, and ambitious Assistant Fashion Designer to support our design team and contribute to the creation of our exclusive bespoke collections.
The Role: Assistant Fashion Designer
The Assistant Fashion Designer will work directly under the guidance of the Lead Designer to support all phases of the design and production process, with a primary focus on bespoke menswear including tailoring for suits, sherwanis, and tuxedos. This role requires technical proficiency, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for luxury fashion and traditional Indian wear.
Key Responsibilities
1. Design & Development Support
• Assist the Lead Designer in researching and developing seasonal themes, fabrics, colors, and trims for upcoming collections.
• Create detailed technical flats (Tech Packs), specification sheets, and materials lists for tailors and production teams.
• Assist in sketching, drafting, and developing patterns for bespoke garments.
• Source, organize, and maintain the fabric, trim, and notions library, ensuring all materials meet luxury quality standards.
• Stay updated on the latest trends in luxury international and Indian menswear (especially bespoke tailoring).
2. Sampling and Production
• Manage the sampling process from initial concept to final prototype, tracking all iterations and revisions.
• Liaise closely with the in-house tailoring unit and external vendors to ensure design specifications, fit, and quality standards are strictly met.
• Conduct fittings and quality checks on prototypes and final bespoke garments, noting necessary alterations and ensuring precise fit and finish.
• Document all changes and updates throughout the production cycle accurately.
3. Administrative and Store Support
• Prepare design boards, presentation materials, and line sheets for internal reviews and client consultations.
• Assist the sales team with technical garment knowledge during client consultations for complex bespoke orders.
• Organize and maintain the design studio and archives.
• Manage the design calendar and project timelines to ensure deadlines are met.
Qualifications and Experience
• Degree or Diploma in Fashion Design or a related field.
• 1-3 years of experience in a design studio, preferably with experience in menswear, tailoring, or luxury/bespoke fashion.
• Strong technical knowledge of garment construction, tailoring, and fit (especially for suits, blazers, sherwanis, and tuxedos).
• Excellent hand-sketching and illustration skills.
• Familiarity with luxury textiles, embroidery techniques, and trims relevant to high-end menswear and ceremonial wear.
• Highly organized with excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
