POSITION TITLE: Technical Designer

POSITION PURPOSE:

This position is responsible for the initiation of technical packages to vendors for prototypes through production. The position holds responsibility for ensuring the consistency of the fit, specification, and quality and construction of the product are up to our Brand standards.

The incumbent will also be responsible for reviewing all production ready technical packages prior to production.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Work with Designers to develop the fit and specification for the prototype sample, formulate corrections and provide solutions when necessary.

Be present and assist the Designer for fit sessions on live models, take detailed notes and pictures when necessary, and have a final review on the overall fit, to confirm all details and corrections needed on the garment.

Responsible for fit and construction integrity follow up in Production. Establish specifications and construction requirements for each garment following our quality standards.

Review and revise spec sheets to confirm their accuracy.

Complete spec packages for production, to be handed to our Quality control team, and shipping department for final auditing if required.

Organize workflow within the department based on delivery and production time and action calendar. Conduct detailed proto reviews vs. tech packs for key measurements, BOMs and constructions.

Maintain library of approved samples and relative patterns.

Communicate fit revisions and comments to vendors in a technical package forma with the help of either illustrations or a combination of drawings over Pictures.

Work closely with the designer in the approval process of fit and construction for each prototype. Engage and be knowledgeable of the Development process for standard blocks in each product category.

Develop and maintain on-time execution of vendor-ready tech packs, including construction sketches, fabrics and trims, construction details, bills of materials, measurement charts and graded specifications.

QUALIFICATIONS:

5 – 7 years’ experience in Technical Design with an apparel company and Strong knowledge of garment fit, construction and grading.

Extensive computer knowledge (e-mail, Microsoft Office, Illustrator), Patternmaking, and background in fit comments. Ability to thrive in a collaborative and fast-paced environment while being organized and detailed oriented.

Proactive, finding solutions, adaptable to change and the ability to work successfully with any personality type. and adapt to urgent projects

Sense of urgency and ability to maintain performance quality under pressure, while having the ability to excel in a team-based structure.

Strong communication skills (Verbal and Written) and organizational skills

Education:

Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Fashion Technical Design or comparable program.
