Job Description
Scope:
The Billing Support Representative (BSR) is responsible for working with internal Interpace teams and various insurance companies to process patient demographics received at intake, verify insurance eligibility and medical benefits, and identify and initiate prior authorizations for all testing performed in an accurate and efficient manner. The BSR will demonstrate an ability to work collaboratively, both cross-functionally and interdepartmentally to ensure excellent customer billing support for all external customers and teams.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Work with fellow team members to review and complete daily tasks efficiently, with accuracy and understanding.
Review and input patient demographic information for all testing performed.
Research and obtain missing or invalid information to resolve outstanding issues or queries to ensure completion of demographics and insurance information for billing purposes.
Assist with reviewing and processing of supporting medical documentation for cases being processed.
Support claim release process and investigation for clean claim submission to third-party clearinghouse.
Assist with record requests and error processing for submitted claims.
Cross-training coverage and support within the billing team to include proficiency in prior authorization submissions, insurance verifications, case issue creations and resolutions.
Maintain professional interaction and communication with Interpace team members as well as customers to ensure satisfaction is met to best of abilities.
Work with commercial team and clients to obtain critical information required for billing, including answering questions or concerns for processing.
Other tasks and duties, as assigned to meet needs of the Billing department; including but not limited to special projects, cross-functional collaborative committees and supporting colleagues with outstanding work assignments.
Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
3+ years of medical billing experience; clinical laboratory or proprietary service knowledge, preferred.
Prior experience with pre-claim certifications/authorizations is required.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Work may require sitting for long periods of time; also stooping, bending and stretching for files and supplies. Work may require using stairs to access other departments when necessary. Occasionally lifting files or paper weighing up to 30 pounds. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, operate a calculator, telephone, copier and other such office equipment. It is necessary to view and type on computer screens for prolonged periods of time.
Work Environment:
This is a 100% remote position. You must be comfortable working in a remote environment and have designated office space. All equipment will be provided to you.
