Job Title: Chief Engineer

Location: Bangalore

About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional Chief Engineer for one of our GCC Banking Client.

Reporting directly to the CIO, you will be a key member of the leadership team, providing deep technology expertise, shaping engineering strategy, and driving architectural excellence across the organization.

You will bring a strong risk mindset, champion “security from the first line of code,” and inspire teams to strengthen their engineering craft to build world-class applications.

Key Responsibilities
• Provide end-to-end leadership for platform design and engineering, ensuring alignment with technology strategy.
• Build and lead high-performing engineering teams through complex, multi-year initiatives—experience in enterprise environments, ASX 200 firms, or scaleups is highly desirable.
• Architect and deliver solutions to complex challenges, including system migrations, onboarding new technologies, and decommissioning legacy assets.
• Define engineering standards, uplift engineering performance, and determine frameworks and best practices.
• Own key technical assets, including roadmaps and long-term technology direction.
• Drive cultural and process transformation toward modern delivery (DevSecOps, automation, agility).
• Lead strategic initiatives and influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Bring broad technology expertise, particularly in enterprise software engineering.
• Demonstrate hands-on experience building and growing teams operating in a DevSecOps model.
• Foster innovation, challenge the status quo, and promote diversity and inclusion within engineering teams.
• Essential Skills & Experience

Experience with some or many of the following will set you up for success:
• Strong background in large-scale distributed systems and multi-platform environments.
• Expertise in automation and software architecture, ideally in the banking domain.
• Experience developing 3-tier applications across:
• Frontend: React or Angular
• Backend: .NET Core (C#) or Java
• Database: SQL and NoSQL
• Deep experience with microservices design and scalable APIs.
• Proficiency in programming/scripting languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Go, and Python.
• CI/CD tooling: GitHub Actions, TeamCity, Octopus.
• AWS Cloud experience with relevant certification.
• Strong solution and system design capabilities.
• Knowledge of application security, observability, and code quality practices (peer reviews, pair programming, automated pipelines).
• Experience working on greenfield projects is highly regarded.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or information technology (or related field).
