Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Worker (DSW) Floater to join our team. This role is essential in providing high-quality care and support to individuals with varying needs, including those with developmental disabilities, Alzheimer’s, and dementia. The DSW Floater will work in various settings, including group homes and assisted living facilities, ensuring that each resident receives personalized attention and assistance with daily living activities.
Duties
Provide direct support to residents by assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
Monitor and document patient vital signs and overall well-being.
Assist residents with mobility needs, including the use of Hoyer lifts when necessary.
Implement care plans tailored to individual resident needs while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
Engage residents in meaningful activities to promote social interaction and cognitive stimulation.
Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks.
Provide companionship and emotional support to residents, fostering a nurturing atmosphere.
Administer medications as prescribed and ensure proper documentation of medication administration.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Experience
Ideal candidates will possess the following skills and experience:
Previous experience in group home settings or assisted living facilities is preferred.
Familiarity with patient observation techniques and monitoring vital signs.
Experience in caregiving roles involving individuals with developmental disabilities or autism.
Knowledge of Alzheimer’s care, memory care, and dementia care practices.
Ability to perform heavy lifting as required for resident mobility assistance.
Certification in First Aid and CPR is highly desirable.
Background in nursing or home health care is a plus.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
