PLC Electrical & Control Panel Engineer / Technician
Job Title: PLC Electrical & Control Panel Engineer / Technician
Location: Project-based (Willingness to travel and stay onsite as required)
Job Type: Full-time / Contract (based on project needs)
Job Summary: We are looking for a skilled and dedicated PLC Electrical & Control Panel Engineer/Technician to join our team for ongoing and upcoming industrial automation projects. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in field instrumentation, PLC control panel wiring, and electrical troubleshooting, with a hands-on approach to resolving site-level issues. This role requires a self-driven professional who is capable of working independently at project sites across locations.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide expert support for field instrumentation and electrical troubleshooting at project sites.
• Read, interpret, and understand PLC control panel wiring including DI/DO/AI/AO and Modbus/Ethernet communication layouts.
• Trace, track, and validate field instrument wiring and perform root cause analysis for any issues encountered during commissioning or maintenance.
• Perform wiring verification, loop checking, and troubleshooting of control panels, MCC panels, VFD panels, isolators, and signal splitters.
• Calibrate and commission field instruments as per manufacturer manuals and project requirements.
• Work with various tools and equipment including multimeters, calibrators, signal simulators, crimping tools, lugs, and other panel/instrumentation accessories.
• Access and interface with PLC panels, OEM control systems, and field instruments for diagnostics and validation.
• Read and work with electrical drawings, P&IDs, and instrument loop diagrams.
• Ensure proper documentation and reporting of test results, field observations, and corrective actions.
• Adhere to site safety protocols and ensure work is carried out as per industrial standards and quality requirements.
Key Requirements:
• Education: Degree / Diploma / ITI in Instrumentation, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering.
• Experience: 2-6 years of hands-on experience in industrial automation, PLC panel work, and field instrumentation troubleshooting
Technical Skills:
• Strong working knowledge of PLC I/O wiring (DI/DO/AI/AO) and communication protocols like Modbus, Ethernet/IP.
• Ability to interpret and troubleshoot wiring in OEM panels and custom-built control systems.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic and calibration tools such as multimeters, loop calibrators, signal sources, crimping tools, etc.
• Experience in instrumentation loop testing, field wiring checks, and electrical safety compliance
Soft Skills:
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently in challenging field environments
• Effective communicator with good documentation practices
Additional Requirements:
• Willingness to travel and stay onsite for project execution and support as needed.
• Must be physically fit and able to work in industrial environments.
• Familiarity with safety practices and PPE use in industrial automation setups.
