Employment type: Ongoing Full-Time
Salary: Clerk Grade 9/10, $129,464 to $142,665 pa, plus employer’s contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading

Your role

The role is within the Security function of DCJ’s Infrastructure & Assets division which is responsible for implementing all aspects of protective security except digital information/cyber security. It is a key position focused on delivering expert protective security advice, planning, delivery, and assurance across the Department.

You will lead the development and implementation of protective security policies, standards, and technical documentation, ensuring DCJ’s security approach is contemporary, compliant, and scalable. The role also delivers security projects and provides strategic advice to support infrastructure and operational initiatives, influencing design and delivery outcomes to protect DCJ’s people, information, and assets. Collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders is central to achieving effective security solutions in a dynamic environment.

What you’ll do

As part of the Security team in Major Program Delivery team within Infrastructure and Assets, you will be responsible for but not limited to:

Delivering security projects and providing expert protective security advice across DCJ’s operational portfolio.
Developing and maintaining protective security policies, standards, and technical documentation aligned with Commonwealth and NSW Government frameworks.
Advising on the design, integration, and assurance of security measures for infrastructure projects, refurbishments, and operational initiatives.
Identifying and mitigating emerging security risks and translating them into practical and strategic responses.
Partnering with key stakeholders — including Corrective Services, NSW Sheriff, Youth Justice, and other divisions — to embed protective security principles early in planning and delivery.
Mentoring technical specialists and promoting consistency in protective security practices across the Department.
Contributing to security awareness programs and supporting compliance with protective security obligations.
