Job Description
Ready to start your career and learn on the job? As an Infrastructure Cadet, you’ll get paid real experience across transportation, 3 waters, and other important projects that help keep Hastings running. This is an awesome opportunity to learn from experienced engineers while you study towards an NZ Diploma in Engineering.
You’ll jump into a range of tasks—like collecting data, helping with site visits, writing reports, working with contractors, and supporting projects from planning all the way through to construction. You’ll also get the chance to help improve how we work and bring new ideas to the table.
Ōu wheako – about you
You’ve got solid maths and science skills (NCEA Level 2+).
You’re keen to study towards an NZ Diploma in Engineering.
You’re curious about how things are built and how infrastructure works.
You’re confident using a computer and quick to learn new tools.
You can communicate well with different people—teams, contractors, and consultants.
You’re proactive, positive, and enjoy solving problems.
You’ve got a restricted driver’s licence and are happy to get out on site.
This is a perfect first step if you’re finishing school and want a career where you can learn, grow, and make a real impact. If you’re motivated, willing to learn, and excited about building a better future for Hastings, we’d love to hear from you!
Situated in the heart of Ngāti Kahungunu, the Hastings district and Hawke’s Bay offer an enjoyable environment in which to live, work and play. We are an equal opportunity employer and we value diversity. Are you keen to be a part of our journey?
