Job Description
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Technical Program Manager (TPM) to join the Region Services organization in delivering large-scale programs for some of the most mission critical clouds.
The TPM will drive cross-functional and technical teams through design, detailed requirements, build, testing, assurance and deployment. You will use judgment, negotiation skills, analytical talent, technical aptitude, and leadership to collaborate with a diverse set of stakeholders, deliver program roadmaps and strategies, eliminate non-value-add activity, design solutions, remove blockers, and find creative ways to accelerate project delivery. You will be an exceptionally strong communicator, both written and verbally, and be a positive influencer across teams to meet program goals.
We are looking for a passionate and results-oriented TPM to define and drive Region Services initiatives. You will have a proven track record of planning and delivering complex programs with multi-year roadmaps, using a variety of program management tools.
If you like to focus on customer experience, think and act globally and want to contribute to the operational excellence of AWS, we’d like to meet you. Your work will help to take AWS into the future, innovate cloud computing solutions.
We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations; Sydney or Melbourne.
Key job responsibilities
Manage high-profile programs across multiple supporting teams to deliver successful outcomes for our customers and AWS.
Anticipate bottlenecks, proactively seek solutions to problems, provide escalation management and inform tradeoff decisions that benefit the program.
- Earn trust through regular communication with senior management on program status and risks, demonstrating the ability to synthesize the problems and the solutions into a simple and consumable manner.- Rely heavily on influence over authority to drive project deliverables.
Own the metrics for project success and define, measure and report on these metrics. This involves data collection, analytics and dashboard creation to report progress and help others recognize the best path to make the business better.
Demonstrate ownership to help improve the safety, security, and availability of our operations.
Hold or be able to attain an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency clearance (see https://www.agsva.gov.au/applicants/eligibility-and-suitability)
A day in the life
Technical Program Managers (TPM) look around corners to identify risks early and are quick to take action. They effectively balance ownership and hold partner teams to high standards of responsibility. They stand ready to leverage their technical and project-focused backgrounds to deep dive issues and develop mitigations to minimize impact. Our TPMs may dive deep to find the root cause of a material delivery issue that threatens the project schedule, cost, or quality. They investigate and address where the program is at risk/blocked, or discuss radical new approaches to improve operational processes. They are responsible for identifying and managing stakeholders, assembling resources, setting roadmaps, schedules and strategies for the program, driving progress, and holding the bar on quality.
