Key Responsibilities
Design & Engineering:
Develop detailed designs, specifications, and data sheets for static equipment including pressure vessels, heat exchangers, storage tanks, and columns.
Calculations & Analysis:
Perform engineering calculations and simulations (e.g., stress analysis, MAWP, MSOT) to determine optimal materials, dimensions, and operational parameters for equipment using software like PV Elite or COMPRESS.
Standards & Compliance:
Ensure all designs comply with applicable international codes and standards (e.g., ASME Sec VIII, API 510/572/650, TEMA, PD5500, IBR).
Documentation & Review:
Create and review detailed engineering drawings (GA and fabrication drawings), technical reports, material requisitions (MR/RFQ), and manufacturing data reports (MDR).
Collaboration:
Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams (process, piping, instrumentation, civil, electrical) and external vendors to ensure design cohesion and project requirements are met.
Vendor Management:
Review and approve vendor proposals, designs, and calculations; manage communication with vendors for technical clarifications and design changes (DCRs).
Technical Support:
Provide technical expertise and support to maintenance, inspection, construction, and commissioning teams, including participating in root cause failure analysis (RCFA) and HAZOPs.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from a recognized university.
Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in static equipment design within the Petrochemical, energy, or EPCC industries.
Required Skills & Knowledge
Technical Software Proficiency:
- Pressure vessel design software (PV Elite, COMPRESS)
- CAD software (AutoCAD)
- Analysis software (FEA tools like ANSYS is a plus)
Code Knowledge:
Robust working knowledge of industry codes and standards like ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Codes (Section VIII Div 1 & 2), API standards (510, 650, 620), and TEMA.
Soft Skills:
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively in a team environment and manage client/vendor relationships.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to tight deadlines.
