Position Title: Case Lead Student
Duration: 18 weeks between May and September
Location: 2 Bloor Street East, Toronto, Ontario
Salary: $26.92/hr. - $29.00/hr.

The Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario (IPC) is hiring for Summer 2026!

Available Position:

The Expedited Team is seeking motivated and talented individuals for the role of Case Lead Student in the Tribunal and Dispute Resolution Division.

What you can expect in this role:
As a Case Lead Student, Expedited Team, you will

Support Case Leads in responding to, monitoring, resolving and deciding cases using the established Expedited Team policies and procedures for cases selected and assigned for expedited inquiry/review under the Acts.
Support research, help analyze past precedents, and where possible, provide a preliminary assessment on the issues for cases and on the likely outcome of the cases.
Assist with creating templates for the Expedited Team and ensuring they are uploaded to the IPC's case management database.
Use the case management database to accurately input all case details, actions taken and next steps.

How do I qualify?
Summer Student Requirements:

Applicants must meet all eligibility criteria by the first day of employment:

You must be currently enrolled in a post-secondary educational institution and returning to full-time studies in the fall OR have graduated within the past six months from the start of the summer program. (For example, if you graduated in December, you would be eligible to apply for and begin a Summer Student position with the IPC until June of the following year).
You must be a minimum of 18 years old. There is no maximum age limit.
You must be legally entitled to work in Canada and have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN) upon being hired.
Preference will be given to post-secondary students enrolled in a discipline relevant to law or legal studies.


Job Requirements:

Well-developed oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to demonstrate a strong positive, supportive, and results-oriented attitude.
Well-developed organizational and time management skills to handle several files and expeditiously resolve files within established timelines, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, case-driven environment.
Ability to apply appropriate judgement and knowledge according to the varying circumstances of individual files and situations.
Well-developed information-seeking, research, and problem-solving skills.
Experience using standard computer software applications (e.g., word processing, spreadsheet, Microsoft 365) to research and prepare materials.
Requirement to work in-person from the Toronto office for a minimum five (5) days per month.

Compensation Group:

The collective bargaining process is currently underway, and this position will be represented by the Association of Management, Administrative and Professional Crown Employees of Ontario (AMAPCEO).
