Job Description
Front of House Assistant – New Cinema Opening (Bishop Auckland)
REEL Cinemas | Opening March 2026
Hours: Worked as per staff rota
Shifts: Between 09:00–23:30, 7 days per week (rota-based)
About REEL Cinemas
Established in 2001, Reel Cinemas is proud to be one of the UK’s leading family-owned independent cinema chains, with 16 cinemas and 88 screens bringing the magic of the movies to communities across the country. We’re passionate about film-first experiences, great value, and creating a genuinely warm welcome in every community we serve.
About the Role
We’re opening a brand-new flagship cinema in Bishop Auckland in March 2026 — and we want brilliant people to help launch it with a bang.
We’re recruiting Front of House Assistants with big energy, big smiles and a natural gift for making people feel welcome. If you’re the type who chats easily, loves being around people, and gets a buzz from creating a great atmosphere, you’ll thrive here.
This is a guest-facing role through and through. You’ll be greeting guests, serving at concessions, keeping the cinema looking fantastic, and helping create the kind of experience that makes people say, “Let’s come back here.”
What You’ll Be Doing
Giving guests a warm, confident welcome from the second they walk in
Serving tickets and concessions quickly, accurately and with great chat
Keeping front-of-house areas and screens clean, tidy and guest-ready
Replenishing stock and keeping concessions looking sharp and well presented
Supporting busy periods (blockbusters, weekends, school holidays) with pace and positivity
Following company procedures for food hygiene, safety and security
Being a great teammate — upbeat, reliable, and ready to muck in where needed
What We’re Looking For
We’re interested in personality first. You don’t need cinema experience — but you do need to love people.
Naturally friendly, outgoing and confident speaking to customers
A true customer-service person — you enjoy making someone’s day better
Positive, energetic and calm under pressure
Reliable and switched on (you turn up, you crack on, you take pride in doing things properly)
Happy working in a fast-paced environment where no two shifts are the same
Willing to learn — full training provided
Experience in hospitality/retail/leisure is a bonus, but not essential.
Availability (Important)
This is a rota-based role. We operate 7 days per week, and our busiest periods include evenings, weekends and school holidays — so you must be able to work a good mix of these shifts.
We’re looking for people who can be available as much as possible. We welcome applications from students, but please only apply if you can offer strong, consistent availability alongside your studies.
Most team members will typically work up to 5 days per week, depending on rota requirements and business needs.
Benefits
28 days holiday (pro-rated based on hours worked)
Free movies & discounts (tickets + discounts on snacks and drinks)
Employee Assistance Programme & Life Insurance
The buzz of being part of a flagship cinema opening from day one
Why Join Us?
Because this isn’t just “a job at a cinema.” It’s a chance to help launch something new for Bishop Auckland — a place people will come for big nights out, family treats, parties and special events. And the team you build with us from day one will set the vibe for years to come.
If you’re outgoing, people-loving, and proud of delivering exceptional customer service — we’d love to hear from you.
Company Overview
We are a growing cinema circuit anchored in our local communities with a company mission to deliver affordable family entertainment and outstanding customer service without compromising quality.
