ABOUT THIS POSITION
The City of Phoenix Public Library (PPL) serves a diverse clientele of over 4.8 million people, with a central library and 16 branches. The library offers collections in multiple languages, a full range of cutting-edge electronic resources and customer-focused public services.
This Library Clerk II position will be in the Collection Services department under the supervision of the Physical Collections Manager.
The position exists to perform clerical assignments which require the exercise of judgment based upon on-the-job experience. Detailed instructions are given at the beginning of each new work assignment, but employees work with independence.
Library Clerk II responsibilities will include:
Running reports from a variety of sources.
Organizing and building spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel.
Using Polaris (PPL's Integrated Library System).
Working in vendor websites.
Physically handling and discarding materials.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
Knowledgeable and skilled in:
Following verbal and written instructions completely and accurately.
Modern office practices, procedures, and equipment.
SALARY
Pay Range: $16.07 to $23.74 per hour.
Hiring Range: $16.07 to $17.72 per hour.
Pay Range Explanation:
Pay range is the entire compensation range for the position classification.
Hiring range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity.
Internal Only: Please understand that this is pay grade 327. If selected, your salary offer will be based on the applicable promotion or demotion worksheet in accordance with the City Pay Ordinance.
Promotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade increase.
Demotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade decrease.
Lateral transfers occur when there is no change to the last two digits of the pay grade.
When there is a change in the first digit of the pay grade, there may also be a change to your classification or unit.

The pay grade and classification/unit of your current position may be found by looking up your job title on the job description page.
BENEFITS
Part-time employees are eligible for earned paid sick time, city training, and free or discounted bus and light rail fares.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Two years of clerical experience.
One of which is in a library facility or at the level of Library Clerk I.
Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position.

Work and Environmental Conditions Requirements:
Assignments include work that involves lifting and moving objects weighing in excess of 50 pounds.
Pushing wheeled carts weighing up to 250 pounds.
Lifting arms above shoulder level to reach overhead and shelving materials.
Bending and kneeling to retrieve materials.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:
Experience with:
Integrated Library System (Ex. Polaris).
Microsoft Excel.
