Sydney Children's Hospitals Network is the largest paediatric health care entity in Australia. We care for thousands of children each year in our hospitals and in their homes — with one purpose in mind — to help young people live their healthiest lives.

The Complex Medical Inpatient Unit (IPU) is a purpose built new 21 bed unit at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, designed as a home base for children who require frequent admissions or long term, highly coordinated care. As a Complex Medical IPU nurse, you’ll be part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team providing personalised, relationship-based care for children from birth to 18 years.

Our patients present with a wide range of General Medical, Respiratory, Sleep, genetic, developmental, and feeding conditions, as well as including those requiring airway and/or respiratory support. The unit also incorporates the hospital’s Long Term Ventilation Unit, a highly specialised service providing clinical care, education, and support to children and families requiring long term ventilation via tracheostomy.

This is a rare chance to help shape a new model of paediatric complex care one that prioritises connection, continuity, and wrap around support. Paediatric experience isn’t required; a genuine interest in paediatrics is. We offer a rotating roster inclusive of 12 hour shifts.
