We are currently seeking a suitably experienced Health, Safety and Environment Superintendent to join our growing team. Reporting to the HSE Manager, this role will see you partner with Site Operations Leaders and site HSE teams to provide support to improve the understanding of the nature of risks now and as they change. The role will provide coaching and support to site-based Operations Leaders as well as Site HSE&T professionals, in the execution of Perenti Contract Mining’s HSE&T systems, strategies and initiatives.


Duties and Responsibilities:


Provide functional leadership, coaching, and advisory support to HSE&T professionals and site operational teams across operational projects.
Guide and support Site Operations Leaders and HSE&T teams to implement strategic safety initiatives and improvement plans, ensuring achievement of HSE&T targets and objectives as outlined in Annual Operational HSE Plans and Site Health and Safety Management Plans.
Facilitate the sharing of lessons learned and best practices to promote consistency and alignment across all sites.
Regularly attend sites to engage with all levels of site teams, fostering a deeper understanding of site-specific risks. Identify and address gaps between actual work practices and intended procedures (“work as normal” vs “work as imagined”).
Undertake structured site assurance reviews to confirm effective implementation of Barminco’s HSE&T systems and Critical Risk Management Framework, reporting findings and recommendations to site leadership team and HSE&T team.
Undertake performance and data analysis to identify performance trends or improvement opportunities.
Collaborate with Site Operations Leaders and HSE&T professionals to develop and implement plans that enhance HSE performance, aligned with Barminco and Contract Mining strategies.
Support site HSE and operational teams in client engagement regarding safety systems, performance, service delivery, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Facilitate and oversee high-quality ICAM investigations for Serious Potential Incidents (SPIs) and verify that all other incident investigations—including minor and non-SPI events—are comprehensive, fact-based, compliant with Barminco’s investigation and reporting procedures, and completed within required timeframes.
Assist with the development of procedures and guidelines concerning new and emerging HSE practices.
Collaborate with the Contract Mining Operational Training team to ensure training systems and materials support safety system requirements.

Requirements:


Minimum 5 years' experience in a HSE Superintendent or similar senior HSE role.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in the mining or related industry.
High level of understanding of underground mining principles and practices.
Relevant Health and Safety qualifications (Certificate or Diploma).
Competent in facilitating and leading ICAM investigations.
Good understanding of risk management principles and ability to facilitate risk assessments.
Full working rights and preparedness for site travel.
