Job Description

Asset Management Engineer – Water
Location: Hamilton or Tauranga
Te whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

Our Water team works across water supply, wastewater and stormwater systems, partnering with local and central government and utility clients to support the planning, performance and long-term sustainability of critical infrastructure. With significant investment underway across the water sector, this is an exciting opportunity for an intermediate-level asset management professional to build a long-term career. You’ll join a collaborative, high-performing team contributing to evidence-based decisions that shape how water assets are managed for current and future generations. We recognise that flexibility matters, so we’re happy to consider both full‑time and part‑time.

Every day will be different, but your role will typically include:

Supporting the delivery of asset management projects to meet time, quality and client expectations

Working alongside senior asset managers on long-term maintenance and renewal planning

Taking ownership of defined components of asset management deliverables, with guidance from senior practitioners

Preparing and collating asset management plans, technical reports, improvement programmes and investment documentation

Analysing and interpreting asset condition, performance and risk data to inform lifecycle and funding decisions

Translating technical and data-driven information into clear, practical insights for stakeholders and project teams

Collaborating with engineers, planners and project managers across the wider water and utilities business

Contributing to continuous improvement in asset management practices, tools and ways of working

About the Team

You’ll join a supportive and highly collaborative Water Asset Management team, working alongside engineers, asset management specialists and project managers. The team culture emphasises shared learning, open communication and strong technical support, with access to senior technical leads and Chartered Asset Management Professionals who actively support career development and progression.
