Job Description

Position: Business Development Representative (Investment Banking)

Firm: Lark Street Capital Corp.

Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Reports To: Managing Directors

The Firm: Global Reach. Personal Touch. Maximized Value.

Lark Street Capital is a premier boutique M&A advisory firm serving the founders and entrepreneurs of the middle market. We provide independent, white-glove advisory and execution services for Mergers & Acquisitions, Debt Advisory, and Buy Side Advisory.

We are not a traditional bank. We are a team of seasoned dealmakers who believe that "to lark" means to do something for enjoyment and daring. We combine the rigorous execution standards of a global investment bank with the agility, empathy, and "personable adventure" of a partnership. Our team leverages over 50 years of experience and a track record of $2B+ in transactions to secure the legacies of business owners across North America.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an exceptional Business Development Representative (BDR) to architect and execute our deal origination strategy. This is a highly visible, revenue-generating role designed for a professional who possesses the "hunter" mentality of a top-tier sales executive and the technical acumen of an investment banker.

You will not be hidden in a back office. You will work directly with our Managing Directors serving as the firm’s forward operating unit. Your mandate is to identify, engage, and qualify the next generation of Lark Street clients: business owners seeking liquidity, growth capital, or strategic exits.

Strategic Mandate & Key Responsibilities1. Deal Origination & Sourcing (The Core Engine)

Thesis-Driven Prospecting: Execute systematic, high-volume outreach campaigns targeting private companies with $10M - $500M in Enterprise Value. You will identify "off-market" opportunities before they reach the public auction block.
Multichannel Engagement: Utilize a sophisticated mix of cold calling, personalized email sequences, and LinkedIn networking to penetrate gatekeepers and engage C-Suite decision-makers.
Buyside Scouting: Act as a strategic scout for our global network of Private Equity funds. Translate their "investment mandates" into targeted search campaigns to identify acquisition targets in Western Canada.
Debt Advisory Sourcing: Identify businesses with complex capital needs—refinancing, growth capital, or dividend recaps—and introduce Lark Street’s debt advisory solutions as a strategic alternative to equity dilution.
2. Market Intelligence & Analysis

Research Mastery: Leverage institutional-grade platforms to map industry verticals (e.g., Healthcare, EV, Niche Manufacturing) and identify "trigger events" (succession, consolidation trends).
Pipeline Architecture: Manage the firm’s CRM ecosystem. You will be responsible for maintaining "data hygiene," tracking conversion metrics, and presenting a weekly "State of the Pipeline" report to the Partners.
Pre-Qualification: rigorously qualify potential leads against the firm’s "Ideal Client Profile" (EBITDA thresholds, industry fit) to ensure senior dealmakers focus on high-probability mandates.
3. Intermediary & Network Development

COI Management: Build and nurture a referral network of "Centers of Influence"—corporate lawyers, accountants, and wealth managers who advise business owners.
Brand Ambassadorship: Represent Lark Street Capital at industry conferences, ACG events, and business mixers. You must embody our values of integrity, discretion, and "serious fun".
The Candidate Profile

We are looking for a professional who meets the "Gold Standard" of excellence—detail-oriented, disciplined, and highly intelligent—but who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment.

Required Qualifications

Experience: Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in Business Development, Sales, or Investment Banking. A background in Financial Services Sales (e.g., selling to CFOs) or Commercial Banking is highly preferred.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Commerce, Economics, or Business Administration. A GPA of 3.5+ is preferred.
Financial Literacy: You must be fluent in the language of finance. You should understand the difference between EBITDA and Net Income, the mechanics of valuation multiples, and the basics of a balance sheet.
Regulatory Standing: Completion of the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) is a significant asset. If not currently held, the successful candidate will be expected to enroll within 90 days of employment.
Core Competencies

Resilience: The ability to handle high-volume outreach and rejection with professionalism and persistence. You view a "no" as data, not defeat.
Written Precision: Your written communication must be flawless. You can craft a compelling value proposition in three sentences or less.
Tech Savviness: Proficiency in CRM systems, Microsoft Excel, and data research tools.
Cultural Fit: You are "personable and adventurous." You understand that building trust with a founder requires empathy and human connection, not just a sales script.
Why Lark Street Capital?

Accelerated Career Path: Unlike large banks where you are siloed, here you will have visibility into the entire deal lifecycle. High performers will have opportunities to advance into transaction execution roles.
Direct Mentorship: Work elbow-to-elbow with Managing Directors who have closed over $1B in transactions. Learn the art of negotiation and deal structuring through direct exposure.
Competitive Compensation: We offer a base salary commensurate with market standards, plus an uncapped performance commission structure tied to the deals you originate. When the firm wins, you win.
Community Impact: Be part of a firm that gives back. Through our Communitas50 Fund, we are committed to positive social and environmental outcomes.
Application Instructions

To apply, please submit your Resume and a Cover Letter. In your cover letter, please briefly outline one specific industry vertical in Western Canada that you believe is currently ripe for M&A consolidation and why.

Lark Street Capital is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
