Job Description

Under the general supervision of the Mail Services Supervisor, the Mail Courier/Mail Services Clerk is responsible for the collection and delivery of mail to departments throughout the Civic Centre Complex, City locations, Campus Area and External Agencies. The incumbent maintains the assigned vehicle and delivery routes, sorts and distributes inter-office incoming/outgoing mail from City Departments and mail/parcels received from Canada Post and Couriers. The Mail Courier/Mail Services Clerk organizes, processes and monitors outgoing mail by operating postage metering equipment.

As the Mail Services Courier/Clerk you will:

Collect and Deliver mail for internal departments and external agencies maintaining the established routes and cycles.
Coordinate Fleet Vehicle operation, maintenance and inspections.
Collect, sort, distribute and document a variety of incoming mail, printed materials and services for departments.
Sort and prepare outgoing mail, operate meter machines to apply appropriate postage and documents.
Your education and qualifications include:

High school graduation or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Experience navigating the City of Winnipeg roads, routes and geographic locations.
Minimum 4 years driving experience.
Experience with sorting, analyzing and distributing incoming and outgoing mail in a high-volume mail environment.
Experience working Microsoft Professional Suite of applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
Experience operating a Hybrid vehicle is an asset.
Ability to comply with all Highway Traffic and Municipal rules and regulations for safe and responsible vehicle operation.
Basic knowledge of the PeopleSoft HR application, PeopleSoft Finance Module and Canada Post Online Business Centre would be an asset.
Mechanical aptitude is required to operate meter mailing or similar equipment.
Excellent written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly.
Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly.
Excellent organizational and time management skills to respond to changing priorities and circumstances.
Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgement in fast paced, and often, stressful conditions.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment and develop strong working relationships with colleagues.

Conditions of employment:

The successful applicant must maintain legal eligibility to work in Canada. If the successful applicant possesses a work permit, it is their responsibility to ensure the permit remains valid.
A Police Information Check satisfactory to the employer will be required from the applicant(s) or successful candidate(s), at their expense.
Must possess and maintain a valid Manitoba Driver's License.
Physically able to lift packages weighing from 10 to 50 pounds on a regular basis
