Job Description

This is a rare and exciting finance opportunity at New Zealand’s home of fitness, Les Mills New Zealand. Since opening in 1968, we’ve been dedicated to our Purpose of ‘making humans fit for life’ and remain proudly NZ owned and operated.

We are looking for a passionate professional to join us and become our next Financial Controller. If you have the experience and drive to work for an epic kiwi brand, in an environment that will support your career growth and can ‘do the doing', then this role is for you.

Reporting to the Head of Finance, you’ll lead and develop a high-performing finance team while taking ownership of the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting and providing insights for confident commercial decision-making.
Working closely with the wider Finance team, Club Managers, and external partners, you’ll be a natural collaborator who balances attention to detail with big-picture thinking. A key part of the role is leveraging technology and data to enhance reporting and visibility, using modern financial systems and business intelligence tools such as Power BI to turn complex data into clear, actionable insights.

We’re looking for an outstanding Financial Controller with:

8+ years’ experience in 4 big accounting firms or medium/large commercial enterprises
A CA qualification
An up-to-date knowledge of the new accounting standards as well as experience in year-end financial reporting
Experience with an ERP system implementation highly desirable
Advanced excel skills and proven experience in financial reporting, modelling, data analysis, and business intelligence tools such as Power BI (or similar)
A proven record of building and managing high performing teams
Strong influencing skills and an ability to work effectively within a small team
A process driven skillset and a sharp eye for detail
Extensive use of sophisticated Accounting Software
A passion for fitness industry
