Horticultural Technician

The Horticultural Technician is responsible for the cultivation, maintenance, and harvesting of crops within a horticultural environment. The role involves monitoring growing mediums, identifying nutrient deficiencies, and assisting with the development of planting, harvesting, and crop processing methods. The worker ensures that safety standards are adhered to when handling chemicals and machinery, supervises farm hands, and performs quality checks to maintain high standards of food safety and product quality.

Your other responsibilities will include:

Examine growing mediums and identify nutrient deficiencies.
Assist in developing and improving planting, harvesting, and crop processing methods.
Safely mix and measure chemicals, ensuring the use of appropriate PPE and adherence to safety guidelines.
Coordinate and assist with harvesting plans.
Supervise farm hands and assign tasks related to crop maintenance and room sanitation.
Perform food safety and quality checks throughout the growing and harvesting process.
Conduct equipment and forklift safety checks and communicate with maintenance teams for repairs.
Ensure compliance with health and safety standards in all aspects of the operation.
