POSITION PROFILE:

The Senior Accountant will be an integral member of the accounting team and responsible for a variety of accounting functions. The qualified candidate will work under minimal supervision as part of a small team and be an individual contributor. A detail-oriented individual with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously will be best suited for this position.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Possess a strong understanding of financial transactions and financial statements
Participate in the monthly financial statements close process in accordance with GAAP
Perform general ledger maintenance and account reconciliations
Prepare and post monthly journal entries
Responsible for customer invoicing and collections
Maintain and monitor overhead, G&A and fringe rate structures
Analyze variances between actual vs. budgeted indirect rates
Ensure that adequate financial controls are implemented and followed
Recommend and implement process improvements to increase accuracy and compliance
Assist in preparing forecasts and the annual budget
Create and distribute weekly or monthly internal management reports related to Program/Product cost progression, Inventory, Product Line Profitability, IR&D, etc.
Key contributor to internal and external audits
Assist with tax filings and sales tax compliance on an as needed basis
Support ERP activities as necessary
Ad hoc reporting as needed
Special projects as requested
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
Minimum four years’ experience in accounting or finance
Strong knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
ERP experience
Proficient in Microsoft Excel
Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment
Excellent analytical, organizational, verbal and written skills
Requires U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident Status required
IDEALLY, YOU’LL ALSO HAVE:

CPA Certification
Knowledge in Cost Accounting Standards
Prior experience working in an ITAR compliant environment or for a DoD federal contractor
Business Intelligence experience
SAP experience
QuickBooks experience
Ability to handle very large data sets in Microsoft Excel
TRAVEL: Little travel is expected for this position, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be required

SALARY RANGE: $100,000-$115,000 annual salary, plus participation in individual performance bonus plan.
