Due to an internal transfer, we are on the lookout for an Asphalt and Sealing Manager to lead our asphalt and sealing operations across the Central North Island. This sector of the North Island Surfacing business is successful, with strong financial performance, solid long term forward workbook, teams that deliver high quality work.

The Opportunity

You run the asphalt and sealing operations across the Central North Island region — you will ensure jobs are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. You will lead the team with support from reporting Project Managers, Surfacing Cadet, Supervisors, Foreman and Crews. You will have responsibility for the total financial performance, equipment and people, clients relationships. Current configuration has asphalt crew based in Tauranga and sealing crew based in Rotorua. Ideally role is based out of the HEB Tauranga office with some travel.

This role suits someone who knows surfacing inside out and enjoys leading people and working on innovative solutions to solve operations and business challenges.

What You’ll Do

Lead safe, high‑quality delivery of surfacing work
Support contract performance, planning, estimating, and reporting
Make sure people and equipment are utilised optimally
Coach and develop your team
Help with recruitment, onboarding, and building capability, succession planning
Look after equipment needs and work with our team on CAPEX
Build relationships with existing and new clients, consultants, suppliers, and JV partners
About you

10+ years in roading, asphalt, or surfacing operations
NZ based experience
Leadership and mana, calm under pressure
Deep understanding of surfacing delivery and equipment
Sound commercial judgement
A practical, solutions‑focused approach
Civil Engineering qualification (or similar) preferred
