Job Description

AI Talent is currently seeking a qualified and experienced Bricklayer to join our skilled construction team. In this role, you will be responsible for laying bricks, blocks, and other pre-cut building materials in mortar to construct and repair various structures including walls, partitions, arches, and segmental paving. You will contribute to both new builds and renovation projects, ensuring a high standard of craftsmanship, safety, and efficiency throughout.

This is a hands-on position that requires precision, physical endurance, and a strong eye for structure and detail. Registration or licensing may be required depending on the site or state regulations.

Responsibilities:

Study building plans and specifications to determine materials, dimensions, and procedures for installation
Erect and dismantle restricted height scaffolding to access work areas safely
Seal foundations with damp-resistant materials and spread mortar to serve as a base and binder for brickwork
Lay bricks, blocks, and other materials in rows, designs, and specified shapes, using trowels to spread mortar between joints
Align and embed blocks in mortar, ensuring stability, strength, and aesthetic finish
Check and adjust brickwork for proper vertical and horizontal alignment
Cut and shape bricks using power tools or hand tools to fit corners, arches, and irregular spaces
Remove excess mortar and finish joints to a neat and uniform appearance
Repair and maintain existing brick structures, including replacing damaged bricks or repointing mortar joints
Construct segmental paving, garden walls, and other outdoor masonry features as required
May prepare bedding courses and assist in the layout and alignment of segmental paving
Qualifications and Skills:

AQF Certificate III in Bricklaying/Blocklaying or equivalent qualification
At least two years of on-the-job training or three years of relevant experience may substitute formal qualifications
ANZSCO Skill Level 3
Proven experience as a bricklayer in both commercial and residential settings
Proficiency in interpreting plans, reading levels, and executing complex layouts
Skilled in the safe and effective use of bricklaying tools and equipment
Strong understanding of worksite health and safety practices
High attention to detail and pride in workmanship
Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual labour for extended periods
Ability to work independently or as part of a team
Registration or licensing may be required for certain sites or jurisdictions
Permanent Residents (PR) and Australian Citizens are eligible to apply
